Share External Drive /Folder With Hyper V Virtual Machine (VM)

Issue: How can I share my USB drive with my VM in Hyper V manager?

Solution: Connect the USB (flash) drive to the Hyper V Manager host machine (your computer). On the Windows computer, search for Computer or This PC and click on it. Now right-click on the USB drive (example with drive name D:) that you want to share with the Hyper V quest machine (the VM), click on Give Access To and then click on Advanced Sharing. In the dialog box, click Sharing tab and then click Advanced Sharing and then provide administrator credentials. Now make sure Share This Folder is checked and Share Name has drive letter D: or the correct path. Click on Permissions and make sure Groups or Usernames has Everyone selected and then check mark Full Control in the Permissions for Everyone section and then click Apply. Now navigate back to the Network File and Folder Sharing area and copy the Network Path; \\YourComputerName\d. Click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog box. Now to access the content of the USB or external drive, open File Explorer in the Hyper V virtual machine and paste the network path; \\YourComputerName\d and then press Enter key on your keyboard.

You can follow the same steps to share a folder with your Hyper V virtual machine as well.
